In September 2002 I had a small DXexpedition together with Jochen, DH8IJ, to the Island of Helgoland, which is situated in the German Sea, about 40 miles offshore. We operated from the Island under poor conditions. We took everything one needs with us, but as it happens, we forgot the good antennas at home. So we took a fishing rod and built up a vertical for the 20m band. It did a good job. Anyway, we had a lot of fun on the island.
The island belongs to Schleswig-Holstein South West group (HELGOLAND, HELGOLAND DUENE, NEUWERK). The IOTA reference is EU-127.
